Peter P. Gladis
Director of Marketing
“Like a kid in a candy store” is how Peter Gladis describes it, “it” being the energizing opportunity to put more than 30 years of industrial and hi-tech marketing experience to work on behalf of RSL Fiber Systems.
Being responsible for exploring and penetrating new markets for a small, growing solutions provider with leading-edge technology can be heady stuff, even for a veteran marketer. Gladis goes to his East Hartford office at RSL Fiber Systems every day knowing only that opportunity awaits, possibilities abound and creative energy is on the agenda.
“It’s a marketing guy’s dream,” says Gladis, who spent 25 years with General Electric as a sales and marketing executive. “It is exciting to have this unique opportunity to put all my years of business management and marketing experience to work for an entrepreneurial company like RSL.”
Over the course of his career with GE, Gladis managed the marketing and sales of a wide variety of products and equipment, at one point growing sales of industrial and process controls 34 percent while supervising a sales force of 105 people. Later in his career Gladis worked as a marketing leader for technology companies including Universal Voltronics, SpecTran Fiber Optics and Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies. He has marketed product lines including laser power supplies, specialty fiber optics and data communications equipment. He has significant expertise in several technologies and market applications, including sold-state and fiber optic lighting systems; optical components and systems; defense and government, including homeland security/first responders; telecommunications and satellite communications; industrial automation; and electro-mechanical equipment and components.
A science fiction buff, chess enthusiast and competitive chili cook, Gladis holds an electrical engineering degree from Villanova University. He has completed a wide variety of post-graduate professional development courses and programs including GE’s Global Management Development Institute and Corporate Leadership Development programs; management and strategic planning programs at Michigan State and George Washington Universities; the Miller Heiman Strategic Selling Curriculum; the Kouzes-Posner Leadership Practices Inventory; and Crestcom Leadership Development Training, among others.
